WFEO- JFES Joint International Symposium on Disaster Risk Management
TIME: 9:00～12:00, Thursday, 11th September,2008, PLACE: Multi-media Bldg, North Sendai Campus, Tohoku University, Sensai, JAPAN SPONSORS: Japan Federation of Engineering Societies(JFES) and World Federation of Engineering Organizations(WFEO), in corporation with Science Council of Japan and Japan Society of Civil Engineers
SYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW:
Perceiving the importance of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) under the climate change to address the UN Millennium Development Goals and to sustain the global prosperity, Science Council of Japan, Member of WFEO, and JFES, Associate of WFEO, had proposed to establish a task group on DRM, which was accepted by WFEO General Assembly in November 2007. As a part of activities of the Task Group, this Symposium is held to showcase state-of-the-art technologies, information and discuss measures to prevent, reduce and adapt to risks of waterrelated and earthquake disasters. WFEO’s roles and activities will also be introduced by WFEO President.
